Spring Makeup Trend: Dark Berry Lip

For all you fans of the dark burgundy lip that trended all throughout fall and winter, you will be pleased to hear that the trend is continuing through Spring -- but just with a berry undertone to it!

Iv'e seen it on endless beauty adds and I have to say I'm loving it! The dark berry lip combines that beautifully pigmented classic berry color that trends during spring with that sexy dark lip that everyone can't seem to get enough of! If you're having trouble finding the perfect dark berry lip, simply apply a dark lipstick on your lips and then apply a layer or a bright berry lip color on top!

I rocked the dark berry lip a few nights ago, and I love how I didn't need much makeup on the rest of my face, because the dark lip was so bold. This is definitely one of my favorite makeup trends right now and I can't wait to see if it carries on all the way to summer!

Cream Eyeshadows: What are the benefits of using them over a powder eyeshadow?

A popular question I get a lot on my Instagram is what are the benefits of using a cream shadow instead of a powder eyeshadow. Obviously, the texture is the number one difference between the two, but difference does that texture make?

Because cream bases are more dense, they tend to be much more pigmented than a powder eyeshadow. While you may need to dip your brush three or four times into the powder shadow, you may only have to dip your brush into the cream shadow once to get the same amount of pigmentation between the two.

Cream shadows also work as great bases. By applying a warm hued cream shadow underneath your eyeshadows, you can instantly transform those eyeshadows into a different shade. I love buying bronzes and gold cream shadows, so that I can use any neutral color, and instantly make it more flattering to my warmer skin tone!

Purple Smokey Eye Makeup Inspired By Kyle Richards

As much as I love all my eye makeup options, I tend to stick with the same neutral and tan color palettes when creating makeup looks. Every time I'm tempted to go out of my comfort zone and try something a little more colorful, I always end up changing my mind, knowing that the neutral shades will look more flattering than something colorful. However, after I watched the Real Housewives of Beverly Hill's Reunion, I started obsessing over Kyle Richards purple based eye makeup.

While purple can be a bright and obnoxious color to wear on your eye, Kyle had it blended in with darker purples to create the most stunning smokey purple eye look! Of course, I rushed up to my room and started playing around with purples until I came up with a similar look as Kyle's.

How to Create this Look:
Starting of with a white base is crucial in order to get the purple eyeshadow to show up as vibrant as possible against your eyelid.
Pat a purple eyeshadow all over your lid and then blend it upwards into your crease.
To add depth and drama to this look, blend a dark purple eyeshadow into the outer v of your eyelid and crease. Also apply this onto your lower lash line.
Finish of the look with black eyeliner and mascara / false lashes.

Benefit Porefessionals Makeup Primer Review

The Benefit Porefessionals Primer has been hyped up practically since the day it came out. I'm sure I'm not the only one who's watched endless videos and read reviews on the fantastic qualities this product contains so of course it was time for me to try it out myself.
My thoughts on this product:
  • It feels almost like a serum creating a silky smooth feel and surface on your face to apply your foundation on
  • It has a dry feel finish to it, meaning that it helps prevent oil from breaking through on your face which is one of the best perks of this product since no oil means your makeup will last longer
  • The only down side to the drying effect of this product is that my skin became dry even after I removed this product so moisturizing has become a must for me to do regularly when using this primer.
  • I usually don't mind investing money on a primer as long as it does the job correctly. However the main issue I have with this product is how much you have to use every time to cover your whole face. Usually, you can use a small pea sized amount with high end primers that will evenly spread across your whole face, yet with this primer I have to use almost 2-3 pumps to cover my whole face.
Overall, I think that this primer is great if you're looking for something that will give you silky smooth looking skin. However, because i have to use so much every time and the product isn't that cheap to keep repurchasing, I probably won't be repurchasing it for a while.

Brown Smokey Eye Makeup Tutorial

Recently I posted a pic on my Instagram wearing a smokey brown eye makeup look and since then Iv'e  gotten a lot of questions and requests to post a tutorial for this look.

You want to start of by blending a warm brown into your crease to soften up the look as we apply the darker shades into the crease.
I used a shimmery dark brown eyeshadow from Too Faced called Erotica for the main color of this look.

Apply the eyeshadow all over you lid and bring it up into the crease and blend it out into the outer corner and crease of you eye lid.

To add some depth to this look, take a dark matte brown eyeshadow (it should be darker than the first brown eyeshadow you used on you lid) and apply this onto the outer corner of you eyelid and lower lash line.

Finish of the look with eyeliner and mascara / false lashes!

Classic Combo - RED LIPS & WINGED EYELINER

Red lips paired with a cat eye is probably one of the most classic looks worn on a woman's face. Iconic celebrities such as Marilyn Monroe have made this look just as iconic, and for such a hyped up look, it really is quite simple and quick to create.

I like using either liquid or gel liner to create a thick line across my upper lash line and the flick up the corner to create a wing. Finish of the eyes with some mascara and step 1 of this look is complete!

In a matter of seconds you can smear on your favorite red lipstick and bam! you've got the iconic Marilyn Monroe red lip and cat eye makeup on and you're ready to go out!

Makeup 101: Fixing Cracked Eyeshadows / Powders

At one point or another, almost all of us has dreaded the moment where we dropped one of our eyeshadows or makeup powders and then Bam...it instantly crumbles into pieces and there goes money down the drain. But WAIT...before you throw the contents of the powder into the garbage, with some rubbing alcohol you can save your product and put it back together again! No this isn't an April Fool's Joke!!

As shown in the picture above, simply just put the crumbled makeup product back into the original container, poor a few drops of rubbing alcohol into it, and once the product is moist start smoosh it back together again. Let the product air dry (usually takes about 12-24 hours) and vwalah! Enjoy your fixed product again!
